Sigiriya
Climb the 5th century Sigiriya rock fortress that is a World Heritage
Site, built by King Kashyapa (477-495 AD). The 'Lion Rock' is a citadel
of unusual beauty rising 200 meters from the scrub jungle. If you are
a keen bird watcher and not interested in climbing the rock, this is
an ideal place for bird watching as well. Transfer from Sigiriya to
Kandalama.

Kandalama - Peradeniya - Kandy
Early morning visit to Arrawwala Wewa, a dry-zone perennial tank with

in the early evening. Royal Botanical
Gardens
These botanical gardens were first built as a pleasure gardens by a
Sinhala king and was expanded by the British. The diversity of trees
creates diverse habitats for many species of birds.

Kandy was the last capital of the Sri Lankan
kings and is a World Heritage Site. Dinner and overnight stay at Tree

Kandy – Kitulgala

Kitulgala – Kelani Valley Forest Reserve
The forest is secondary lowland rainforest on the lower slope with the
forest extending up to the higher elevations, contiguous with the Peak
Wilderness sanctuary. Red-faced Malkoha, Ashy-headed Laughing Thrush,
Malabar Trogon, Lesser Yellow-naped, Pygmy and Crimson-Backed Woodpeckers
and Spot-winged Thrush, White-faced Starling, Dollarbird and Chestnut-backed
Owlet are among the birds you can observe. This is also the home for
the newly discovered Serendib Scops Owl.

Kandapola - Horton Plains - Kandapola
Start the day early. Leave for Horton Plains with picnic breakfast.
Horton Plains National Park
Visit Horton plains, which is located on a high windswept saddle at
about 2,134 meters above sea level. This area is a home for the Sri
Lanka Whistling Thrush, Orange-billed Babbler, Yellow-eared Bulbul,
black-throated Munia and many more birds. Hakgala Botanical
Gardens
The Hakgala Botanical Gardens is home to many highland bird species.

Kandapola - Yala

Yala National Park
Do a safari of the Yala National Park by jeep. Sri Lankan Jungle Fowl
and Peafowl are common here. Raptors such as Changeable Hawk Eagle,
White bellied Sea Eagle and Crested Serpent Eagle are also commonly
seen apart from many species of large flocks of migratory and indigenous

Yala - Bundala
Transfer from Yala to Bundala. Bundala National Park
Do a safari of the Bundala National Park by jeep. Being the first RAMSAR
Wetland in the country, this park is so important for migratory birds.
Large varieties of migratory shorebirds use the lagoons in this park
for their winter stay. Transfer from Bundala to Hambantota. Dinner and
overnight stay at Oasis Hotel.

Sinharaja Natural World Heritage Site
A World Heritage Site since 1988, this is arguable the most important
site in Sri Lanka and is internationally important for its biodiversity.

Important Notes:
- You have to bring your own binoculars.
- The facilities at the campsite are basic and will include accommodation
in camping tents, sleeping bags, sheets, pillows, torches, towels,
soap and camping toilet facilities. Bottled water and other beverages
will be provided as per request at extra cost.
- It is recommended that you bring sunglasses, sunblock lotion,
insect / leech repellent and personal effects for warm/windy/rainy
conditions.
- It is recommended that you wear dull-coloured clothing during
bird watching.
- Inside the tropical forest, it can be very humid and warm and
it will be more comfortable to wear light clothing with trekking
shoes.
- We strongly discourage any kind of destructive bird attracting
practices.
